The 2025 football season for the University of Oregon Ducks captivated fans and showcased the continued rise of the program on the national stage (and it's not over yet!). This year’s squad was defined by elite talent, depth on both sides of the ball, and a relentless drive to compete at the highest level.
At the heart of the Ducks’ offensive success was quarterback Dante Moore, whose leadership, precision, and ability to extend plays made him a true catalyst for Oregon’s explosive attack. Moore was surrounded by dynamic playmakers, most notably Kenyon Sadiq, whose athleticism and route-breaking ability made him a matchup nightmare, and, Atticus Sappington “Atomaticus” to his teammates, an incredibly accurate kicker who delivered when it mattered most.
The defense was equally impressive, featuring relentless pressure and playmaking at every level. Matayo Uiagalelei, younger brother of NFL quarterback D.J. Uiagalelei, anchored a dominant defensive front that constantly disrupted opposing offenses. Rising talents like Teitum Tuioti brought physicality and impact plays, while freshman Brandon Finney Jr. quickly established himself as a defensive difference-maker. Leading the entire unit with toughness and local pride was Eugene’s own Bryce Boettcher, a true field general on defense.
Throughout the regular season, the Ducks proved their mettle with signature wins. On the road, Oregon battled to victory at Penn State in an intense contest that showcased clutch performances on both sides of the ball. They also secured a hard-fought road win at Iowa, demonstrating resilience and discipline in hostile territory. At home, Oregon’s electric crowd at Autzen Stadium saw the Ducks take down USC in a defining victory that set the tone late in the season (SHOUT!).
The postseason brought historic success. Oregon dominated in the Capital One Orange Bowl, earning a 23-0 shutout win, the program’s first bowl game shutout since 1917, and punched their ticket to the College Football Playoff semifinals.
Now, the Ducks are headed to the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl to rematch #1 Indiana in a CFP semifinal showdown, a regular-season rematch against a team that handed Oregon its only loss, with a berth in the CFP National Championship Game on the line.
This year, Eugene rallied around the team like never before. Autzen Stadium was electric—filled with green and yellow—and the roar of the crowd could be heard all the way to the hotel. GO DUCKS!
Looking ahead, the future appears incredibly bright. With elite talent returning and momentum carried into the BIG10, Oregon is well-positioned as a conference contender and national presence. The Ducks have their eyes set on a BIG10 title and a coveted spot in the College Football Playoff—goals this team has more than earned.
